We had a chance to spend a day at the southern tip of the Delmarva peninsula this weekend. It was wonderful to spend the first morning  of fall making intricate designs with shells on the beach. My sister-in-law gathered a little pile of shells and took them back to the house. She arranged them on the table and then answered a call. She got a real surprise when she next glanced at the table. Her collection was moving - every shell had a hermit crab in residence! I'm thinking it makes more sense to collect leaves this fall...

Wishing you some pleasant surprises today!

Each time I finish work for a new class schedule I treat myself with time to stitch anything I want.  I had tucked Marcia Derse fabrics and a Plum Tree pattern away months ago - definitely time to enjoy stitching the piece. The triangles for Three's a Charm went together quickly and look great. When I took it into the shop the following morning I was greeted by Marcia's new Alphabet line. I'm pretty sure that means I need to plan a project for the incredible new fabrics - and maybe not tuck it away so long this time!
Fabric $11.30 per yard, Alphabet (partial panel shown above) $17.75

We have been sending quilts to the Hopes and Dreams Challenge for the past several years - ones we've made and those made by our guests. Each of the quilts is given to an ALS patient or used to fund ALS research.  The original idea, and continuing effort, are the work of Quilters Dream Batting.  While stitching for the worthy cause there is an opportunity to win prizes. Check out the Sew Popular section at You might recognize the work of one of your friends - that is a stunning quilt Pat! Congratulations!
Glorious batik prints continue to be favorites at QC. It is amazing to think of the effort taken to bring us each special bolt. In the past several weeks we have changed the end display, where we feature the newest additions to the section, three times - yes, there are that many new ones! The colorful selection from  Island Batiks even included several bolts of rayon batik. All the pattern and deep color of cotton batik with a soft drape - perfect for clothing. Be sure to check them, and all the others, next time you visit.
How about adding a little mystery to your life? Ok, not so little - Quilters Joy, a spectacular new Border Creek Station series, is a pieced mystery quilt that can be made in lap (65"x89") or queen size (98"x98"). The design is worked over the course of eight steps - each an incredibly organized, and fun to stitch, portion of the final surprise. At Quilters Corner we meet each month to review the required techniques and to help keep everyone on track. You may purchase a kit for the quilt or select different fabrics, with a bit of guidance, of course. We finished Border Creek's Quilters Legacy mystery just a few weeks ago. That quilt was fantastic - this one is sure to be just as wonderful! The first meeting of the new series is November 5th at 11:00am. We have just begun to take registrations - how about joining the group?!
Fee $35.00 (includes 8 meetings, patterns and instruction)
Kits available in French General red and taupe fabrics - lap $108.00 or queen$157.00 (kits include fabrics for top and binding)
