It feels like I just left Houston yesterday. I head there every fall to warm up a bit and to take a quick look at all the new quilt world goodies.  I headed back to the hotel late the first night of market and was asked by the friendly doorman if I wasn't a little chilly... My response - "Oh no, I'm in Houston, I'm fine". The same guy greeted me the next morning with, "Are you chilly now?" As it turns out it was 39°! At that point I admitted I was freezing and that no matter how fast I walked I was still going to be freezing. He told me not to worry, it would warm back up, and it did - two days later it was 80°!
I wasn't prepared for either extreme, but I still had a great time and brought back tons of neat things. Here's hoping the "extremes" of the next few weeks bring lots of joy!
See you soon,
Mary Beth

PS It was so cold I spent time in Houston finishing up our 2018 Snow Day quilt details - they will be ready to share soon!
I would like to thank everyone that joined us in our 2017 From Our Table effort. First, thank you to the wonderful women that work in the shop. Your 2017 displays were magnificent. Congratulations go to Bonnie for her version of "The Ultimate Gift", the winning piece for this year. Congratulations also go to Luann J. and Nancy G. - winners of the kits for this runner. Most importantly - thank you to everyone that voted! Your donations to the local food pantry are appreciated more than you can imagine.

Market Party!
You won't believe all the new things that have been squeezed into the shop! Whether you attend the Market lecture Saturday, or stop in during the coming weeks, you are sure to be inspired. We have new quilt samples (featuring designs by your favorites - including Villa Rosa and Fabric Café!), incredible new fabrics, books, patterns and tools. We can't wait to share - stop in soon?

Don't miss ~
Do you ever wish you could take a closer look at the quilts you see in books and patterns? Trunk shows make that possible. At the moment we have not one, but four in the shop! Yes, the work of four different designers! Jaybird's Alphabet Soup just went up today. In this case you can see works designed and pieced by one quilt world luminary, quilted by another! They are cheerful, fun and expertly worked - I hope you have a chance to stop in before they move on to another shop in two weeks!

Block of the Month Premiere
Saturday ~ December 9th ~ 10:30am (session full) or 11:45am

Get your first look at the stunning new quilts we will be working block-by-block in the coming year when you visit next Saturday. We will share photos of many of the pieces and all the details you need to make your selections - from the number of steps each requires, to the supplies needed, to the cost of each. There really is something for everyone in the mix this year. You will find both traditional and contemporary works, in a range of techniques. Consider learning something new (maybe foundation piecing, the technique used in Almond Country Beauty) or select something that helps you practice the basics - in either case quilts worked this way seem to come together by magic. By this time next year, working in manageable steps, you could be showing off your next masterpiece!
Fee: free ~ pre-registration required

Take and Make Monday
Monday ~ December 11th ~ 11:00am

We had a blast at our first Make and Take Monday in October. What we realized is that Maureen and I may talk a "tad" too much (I know you're wondering what took us so long to realize that!). There was tons of instruction, but very little stitching time. So, this time we have modified the name to Take and Make. At this session you will be given kits for six different projects (including the sewing roll you have been asking about for ages) and see how each item is created. The pieces include great little gifts and special decorations you can make in your "spare" moments at home. Consider joining us ~  take a fun break from this hectic month!

Fee: $15.00 (includes kits) ~ pre-registration required by December 7th
